Fire Island, New York City

Fire Island is a long island off the coast of Brooklyn / Long Island New York. It's probably the only place in New York that I would want to live. Johanna doesn't like the island when it's deserted, but for me, that's it's main appeal.

So this is the house where Johanna would spend her summers. I don't remember if it was '94 or '95 (probably '94 - I'm too lazy to check. If I find out I'll update this page... yea -right!) when we rented the house with a few friends for a week. The bad thing is that during the week I developed a real bad ear infection which sapped all my energy and turned me into quite a grouch. Since that time the house has been sold to someone who doesn't rent it.
Herman, Michelle, Johanna and me. What were we doing? Playing Pictanary or having breakfast? The best thing about this picture is that both Herman and I have our eyes closed. Man! Were we having a good time!
Johanna feeding a deer You know Johanna - she's take it home if she could.
On the beach You would never imagine a beach in a city of 8 million people to be this empty. That's one of the things that I loved about Fire Island. During the week, it's so empty!

Look - I live in a block which has more people than many towns. Johanna's building probably has just as many. So for me to be surrounded by no-one -- Wow!

So we take this long walk and wind up far, far away. Fire Island Lighthouse
